One Good Day

I just wanted to document my side of Wednesday this week. I liked it. I want to remember it.
It may not have started beautifully, since the children and I weren't on the same page, but we got them to school on time which is good. I also went into Ryan's class to volunteer. I have really enjoyed working in his classroom and this day wasn't any different. I even got to help the kindergarten teachers out a bit with the excel skills I acquired as a Hall Advisor.
I attempted to run an errand in Tooele when the boys were done with school on this early out day, but alas, I got a block away from where I was headed and realized I forgot the money to pay for it. Whoops. Oh well, we turned around back toward home and had an early lunch. After lunch, the boys relaxed while I put together a grocery list. Ryan even got some playtime with friends for a while. Then packed back into the van to take them to Daddy. We left a little earlier than normal and Oliver's phone was dead so we walked into the school to find Daddy. He wasn't in his room. So we decided to walk toward the band room. We passed a handful of students that we knew and as we walked past the front doors, I asked Ryan to run out to see if Daddy was outside. Nope. Now to decide between going straight or turning right to get to the band room. I instinctively chose straight and that was a definite blessing because as we started down the hallway, Oliver walked out of a classroom next to us, a classroom I never would have checked to find him.
After leaving a couple of happy boys with their Daddy, I got into the van and headed back to finish the errand I was denied earlier. Luckily, there wasn't another roadblock to completing it so I was able to head right over to the Tooele pool for swim practice. I've been enjoying the swim team. It's great to have some things to think about and learn about as well as seeing a swimmer improve.
After practice, I did my grocery shopping and came home to Oliver cooking dinner. Although, the first words I heard as I walked in the door were: "Mommy's home! Can I open the package now?!"

Thanks to Grammy & Papa for bringing such a large amount of excitement into our house. Thanks for thinking of Evan & Ryan.
After the excitement of the large box, it was time to carve the pumpkin that I purchased at the store. Something that Ryan had been asking about for a week or two and that I'd been putting off. But we did it. Ryan helped a little. Evan showed a little curiosity. But Oliver was enjoying himself. And I was loving watching him as Ryan and I read together.

I worked on roasting pumpkin seeds for the first time in my life(turned out pretty good...although the second day, not as good) while Oliver snuggled with the boys. And then it was time to put the boys to bed. Oliver ran to the store to get some snacks for his road trip the next day(he left this morning at 6am to drive the trailer full of band instruments to southern Utah) a little faster than he should have. He got back, the boys had fallen asleep and then we were able to have some relaxing time together before our own bedtime. I love that man.
